Ingredients
- 1 salmon filet
- Optional: sweet potatoes, rice, quinoa, broccoli
Directions
- Remove any pin bones from the salmon. Place the fillet with the skin down and skin on (we will remove it later) in about an inch of water in a non-stick skillet.
-
Cover and simmer for 5-10 minutes, until the fish is fully cooked. You should check the internal cooking temperature with a food thermometer and make sure it reads 145 degrees Fahrenheit.
-
Using a spatula, lift the fillet out of the pan and set it on plate. Once cool, peel off the skin and discard.
-
Place salmon in blender of choice and purée until you reach the desired consistency. You can add reserved cooking water to thin.
-
Add in other ingredients like sweet potatoes, rice, quinoa, broccoli and more! Café Baby pureés make great add ins. (Make sure your baby has had the food first without allergic reaction.)
Older baby tip: You can skip the purée and simply fork mash the salmon or try our Salmon meatballs.
Cutting Salmon for Baby Led Weaning
Cook your salmon as directed above. Place the fillet on a cutting board and cut pieces about the size of two adult fingers. This size is a safe amount for your baby to consume in one sitting and is easier for babies to grab than small flakes of fish are.
